Doodling friends

It's great when creative friends come to visit, especially when they bring laughter, computer skills, art talk and inspiration. This mixed media collage by Karina Gregory was inspired by talk of printmaker Angie Lewin and installation artist Chiharu Hiota. Hiota set fire to a grand piano (no gasping it had already had it!) transported it to an exhibition space then spent the next 10 days creating an intricate black web around its charred remains.

Birds for Robyn

My Good friend Robyn has been waiting patiently for me to put some of my bird photo's on the blog.
Being a ranger with National Parks on the south coast of NSW, she is in heaven because the place is literally teeming with thousands of birds. (the same can be said for the whole of the east coast of Australia) She has been involved in setting up the most wonderful wetlands bird sanctuary called "Panboola" which has been donated to the people by some very generous benefactors. A fantastic place to visit if your in the area!  thebegavalley.org.au/panboola

CRAVEN

The crows and ravens (cravens) are out and about at our place at the moment.......the warmer the weather the better they sound with their long drawn out caw, caw, caaaaaaaaawwwwwwwws. Oh how I love that sound and also do a pretty good imitation myself!! They are so sleek and black and sure of themselves. This mixed media piece by Michael Kemp titled "I'm the king of the castle" has captured this cravens personality perfectly.  He is currently working on another mixed-media bird piece that will have over 50 interactive panels so watch this space.

Nature continues to impress!!

Up close and personal with nature is a wonder to the eye. The multitude of patterns, shapes, textures and colours are everywhere from desert to sea (via the mountains!) Here is an example of each. Gum Leaves at Harrietville Victoria, Coral on Lord Howe Island and baby Boab trees at El Questro Station the Kimberly WA.

SPRAY-CAN, CAN

Its' amazing that just a few simple lines with a spray-can,
can evoke such touching emotion. I took this photo in the back streets of Florence. The bike was a lucky extra!
