PRINT SWAP

"crow with chooks"
When living in Queensland for a few months last year I joined a group of printmakers. Each year they have a print swap........each person does 15 prints and swaps with the other 15 in the group. This mono-print was my contribution.

Hooded Plover eggs

Hooded Plover eggs on our local beach....not much of a nest, just a slight hollow on the sand above the tide mark.

THE QUEEN OF THE APRONS

My mama is amazing...I mentioned how I would like to make some aprons and by the next day she had whipped up 10!! Talk about exhausting!! We set up the photo shoot over at the old shack.....this is an exhausted mamma with a few of her creations. The apron below is my favourite.

Click on bricbrac on ebay (top right) for retro apron and vintage fabrics for sale.

PINNIES

Aprons or pinnies are making a bit of a revival and I for one am glad. They disappeared for a while.... (apparently women in the sixties burned their aprons along with their bras!!) There's a whole new era of women rediscovering the practicalities of the humble apron...not to mention aprons as a fashion statement!! I just read "The apron book" "Making, wearing and sharing a bit of cloth and comfort" by EllyAnne Geisel. It is a wonderful insight into aprons from all walks of life. Complete with recipes!
I took this photo in a huge collectable shop in Kansas City.

MARKET GIRL

I love markets and all they have to offer.....my favourite market in Melbourne is Camberwell market (Sunday mornings).....oh the bargains are to die for and the stall holders so colourful. This vintage queen is Andrea Joy she has a great eye for colour and vintage finds. Her blogspot...... enjoyitvintagejoy.blogspot.com has interesting eye candy for the vintage enthusiast.
